Mary’s Makers Random Layout Part 2

Yesterday I wrote about pulling together a scrapbook layout for my scrapbook friends. This morning I got up and decided to pull together a second series of pages using basically the same layout but with a different paper pack. Digging through my stash, I found an old Creative Memories (CM) Nancy O’Dell paper pack I must have purchased years ago. Back when CM ran several Nancy O’Dell paper packets, I purchased them all – absolutely loved her stuff. Anyhow, I found this random paper pack “the loves series” that I never used. So, I decided to pull it out to see how yesterdays layouts would work with this paper pack. Since both used paper that was valentines themed, I felt pretty optimistic.

I loved the Nancy O’Dell paper packs – so soft and pretty.

So, I pulled out my solid paper to see what I had that would match this packet. I found 2 sheets of Close to My Heart peacock card stock (Enchantment pack) and then found an old patterned Adventure Assortment Paper Fundamentals with some colors I thought I would work. The odd think was that this Adventure Assortment is patterned – was afraid it might be too busy. Since both paper packs are several years old, I decided to jump in with both feet – worst case scenario…. they end up lining my recycle bin.

Of course I started with the greens and teals (anyone who knows me gets this). First layout came together nicely.

Layout 1 – same layout as yesterday, different paper and different embellishments.

With this layout today, I played around a bit with my Cricut to try and make the layout a little less “valentines” and a little more “happy” or “fun”. Of course, all of the Nancy O’Dell embellishments that came with this paper were lovey dovey, so I did face some limitations. I was really bummed also because I would have liked to have used some white shimmer ribbon in this and the following layouts. Sadly, I discovered that I am either completely out, or have forgotten where I put my white shimmer ribbon as it isn’t with my other glittery ribbon tapes. Memo to self – I REALLY need a craft room. On a positive note, I did have all of the fixin’s for a shaker window in my scrapping bag, so I added one in this layout – I love these things.

Layout 2 came together nicely as well. Again, thanks to my Cricut, I was able to make it less mushy and more or less something I could use for almost anything. Bonus – I found two rolls of the green striped washi tape I used in this layout. I believe they are Close to My Heart leftovers from a few years ago. They matched the paper in this second layout nicely as did the green “gems” I found in one of my sorting pouches.

layout 2 – I like it!

Layout three was a little more challenging as I had to use the pink Nancy O’Dell print paper and couldn’t find anything I thought matched it perfectly. I ended up settling on the green and peacock from the first two layouts as complements for this third layout. Added another shaker window – because I could – threw on some embellishments and called it a day. I think I would have liked this one more had I had the white glitter shimmer trim tape. Instead I used a burlap tape that just doesn’t add the same “tada” value.

this layout would be fine with white glitter shimmer trim. I’ll change mine up once I can find my stash of white glitter shimmer trim.

Last layout for today is a little more rough. I actually ran out of white daisy paper (Mary, if you are reading this I am going to need two more packs). So, I had to try and find a complementary color that I had 2 of for the bases – in comes this goldenrod color from my Close to My Heart Enchantment paper pack. Not my first choice. I would have rather used white daisy for the bases and used the goldenrod as photo mats. I was happy that I was able to find enough white daisy scraps to make a few photo mats for this layout. Also – the “happy” at the top would look better on white daisy instead of goldenrod. I probably would have swapped out the white daisy circle behind the “happy” for one that was either pink or perhaps the goldenrod. Fortunately, I still had plenty of stickers and green bling gems to complete embellishments. As with layout 3 – I would have preferred the white glitter shimmer trim to the burlap – and will switch it out once I find mine.

Should have the “Oh My Heart” paper packet Monday. Can’t wait to pull together some designs using that paper. While the paper pack was clearly designed for Valentines Day, I intend to pull together page designs that will work with pictures of my grand-babies.

Have a happy Saturday and let me know if you have any other ideas for improvement on this set of pages. 🙂
